Music Lessons from

Gayle Chapman

Known to her friends as "The Fabulous Mizz G"

Gayle Chapman is a professional musician living and performing in Boise, ID. She has been teaching music lessons for more than 30 years. In her private lessons, Gayle teaches music and technical skills to students playing either the guitar or piano. Lessons include music theory and note reading, and are available for students of all ages and abilities. If the student intends to perform, Gayle can also teach performance musicianship, stage presence, and how to read an audience for feedback.

About the Teacher

Gayle showed early signs of becoming a significant musician, learning to play both the piano and guitar while singing in front of audiences before age 10. She first performed original material in a 7th grade talent show, and by the time she graduated from high school, she was the youngest person to sing in the Opera Chorus for Carmen and Lucia Di Lamermoor when the Metropolitan Opera came to Duluth Minnesota. Gayle earned a voice scholarship to Drake University in 1975, and while continued education didn't work out, Gayle committed herself to performing and refining her craft.

Gayle got her first boost in her career when she became the “First Lady Of Keyboards” for Prince from 1978 to 1980. After touring for 2 years, she went back to school, then on to teaching students in Piano, Voice and Guitar while continuing to write, arrange and record original tunes. In 1987, Gayle moved to Idaho and has worked with several artists and productions. She is presently in a band called D’Funkt, an 8 piece original funk music band with a horn section. She plays keyboard and sings, and has a lot more writing and arranging to do with them. They have a CD which is soon to be released….it will be posted on the D’Funkt website for sale. You can find D’Funkt on Facebook.com
